Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge: Trees and/or Tree Trunks

It seems my blogging challenges are going hand in hand with photography challenges for this year!  I am finding all kinds of great weekly photography challenges blogs, and here is one that really intrigued me:  Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge.  So, I decided to give it a try, since I’ve been working on improving my skills with Adobe Photoshop Elements.  And, this week’s challenge, Trees and/or Tree Trunks, was perfect timing since yesterday I tool this photo on my run:

I tool this photo, and did a little light and contrast edit on it, and then plunged into the Effects, that seem to be a new feature in this newer version of Elements.  I tried a couple, but really liked what Vintage did, so this was the result (as you may have seen in my CY365 photo from yesterday…):

As I move on in these challenges, I need to start using some of the manual features in Elements to see what I can create myself, without just clicking a button!  I am sure that will come…

  1. I really like your vintage effect as well. The trees are leaning away from the gray and toward the brown… very nice. It all lightened up the trees so we could see them.

  2. Welcome to the challenge Emily and thanks so much for this great entry! That is such a lovely shot of the trees and I love the vintage effect. Well done and thanks for taking part and for sharing. 😀

  3. I love the editing. It makes a completely new feel to the photo. 😀

  4. I like the effect. I have just started with Lightroom and don’t think I’ll be getting Elements any time soon. At least, until I know what I’m doing in Lightroom.
